Jose brings a diverse set of skills and experiences to TLA. Since earning his Bachelor of Environmental Design at the University of Manitoba and Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Illinois he has spent time working in both Canada and abroad.
Drawing on his planning experience, while earning his Master’s, he was involved in Action Research both as an instructor and in concert with community groups on legacy environmental pollution in urban settings.
He went on to work in Northern Canada on Treaty Land Entitlement agreements mapping First Nations traditional territory and documenting oral histories using GIS. Most recently, he has earned professional experience on large-scale master plans, signature streetscapes, and urban transit hub landscapes in Mainland China.
Developing sites through design details in concert with contextual and regulatory frameworks, Jose is most interested in how urban places can create connection for peoples while optimizing urban living.
