Recently established, as a 43 acre master planned community in downtown Toronto Liberty Village has become a vibrant urban neighbourhood that has redefined the City fabric north of the C.N.E. lands. Comprised of new high-rise residential, retail and commercial/office uses, this initiative has taken a large derelict brownfield site and transformed it into a vibrant community with its own unique identity.
Terraplan has been instrumental in the overall design of this new community having been the landscape architects for several of the more iconic buildings and spaces within Liberty Village. Our work includes the commercial retail patio and apron at William’s Landing on East Liberty, two of the largest condominiums where we worked in close collaboration with artists to provide an exciting contribution to Toronto’s public art inventory and several of the smaller squares and gathering spaces that help define the specialness of the space.
Through our ability to recognize the importance of street life within the community and our capacity to successfully define public and private spaces, the landscape designs we have provided have helped ensure that this new neighbourhood will be sustainable well into the future.Click to Download Project PDF
