Services: Concept Design
Terraplan recently presented a concept design for the redevelopment of a high-rise apartment building’s street frontage in Midtown, Toronto. The client’s request was to create a more aesthetically pleasing and useable landscape with minimal financial impact.
Our concept emphasizes existing desire lines to the front door through the use of low seating walls which also retain the front lawn forming a large, flat space for the residents to recreate or walk their dog. The existing public art becomes part of the corner feature to the site by surrounding it with tiered seating and planting beds. Lastly, the healthy, mature trees on site were preserved with the understory removed to create sightlines from the street to the front entrance.
