Current Stage: Concept Site Plan
Terraplan is currently working alongside SmartREIT to develop a site plan for the second phase of a project in Vaughan. Required elements on the site include: a retirement housing complex, a grocery store, retail, residential units as well as parking to accommodate all site features. The city of Vaughan also has strict zoning requirements for the site.
The unconventional site plan provided to SmartREIT includes a six-storey parking structure ‘wrapped’ with ground floor retail spaces and five storeys of residential units making the parking garage visually undetectable. The walkways throughout the site range from three to thirteen meters wide, encouraging barrier-free pedestrian movement across the property. Through the use of massing models, Terraplan was quick to provide the client with an accurate idea of how customers and residents would access and use the features on site.
